USMLE SHELF

USMLE Shelf are standardized exams (similar in format to the USMLE) that are administered to Medical students during their school years. They allow for better understanding of your ability compared to other students in the same year. It's administered to SOME US medical students, not all. It's also administered to some foreign medical students (eg. Caribbean schools). The National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) reports student scores from its subject (shelf) exams in what the NBME calls a Subject Test Score (STS). While reported as a two-digit score, the STS is not a percent score.
