USMLE SCORES

After completing three steps scores are electronically transmitted to the NBME for scoring. There is no numerical value for score in Step2. The first step of the scoring process entails converting the number of correct answers into two equivalent scores.  The first score is a three-digit scaled score and the second is a two-digit scaled score. This scoring method applies to all parts of the USMLE except for Step 2 CS which is assessed as either a pass or fail score.  There is no numerical value assigned to this part of the test. Score reports will reveal the specific scores earned on each part of the test as well as indicate whether the student has passed or failed. For Step 2 CS, any cases overlooked by the student will be disregarded when determining a passed or failed attempt.
